Clogging and Me Classes for 18 months to 5 years! Before I tell you about Virginia Fancy Feet, let me tell you about the owners. Jim and Sharon Jacobs must have been meant to be together and to run a clogging team. They met, when the team that Sharon was on, preformed a show at a place where Jim did not usually go. Just so happened they were the only team that offered lessons, just what Jim was looking for "lessons" that is, not a WIFE, Jim got both, two months later Jim joins the team, and nine months later they got married!!!!, then two years after that it was to quit dancing or take over the team. Six years later, a couple of mistakes, and a few setbacks, we now have a team, that has danced for all the local and regional festivals, including State Fair four years in a row. They have preformed before such acts as Shelly Wright, Blake Shelton, Rascal Flats, and Travis Tritt. Please welcome a team of volunteers, ranging in ages from twenty months to forty something. Virginia. If you don’t know what clogging is, let me explain it to you.
Clogging is much like tap and Irish dancing. In its traditional form it is an
American folk dance that has been practiced in the mountains of Appalachia for
over two hundred years. It is fast paced and gets the foot stomping and
hand clapping attention from any audience. Precision clogging is commonly
called modern clogging. It was developed around World War II, and is
performed to a variety of music. It usually is shown with rock and country
western styles of music. Teams of cloggers usually wear costumes similar to
those of western style square dancers. The shoes have jingling taps when moved.
Precision clogging emphasizes that everyone clogging is on the same step at the
